Spend or Steal

The dress in the picture is cute, looks comfortable, could be worn all year round (with or without tights) and it looks like the perfect little party dress. What if your not completely sold and don't think that the $398 price tag convinces you any further. What if you could get a very similar dress for $22.80. While I was checking out the after-holiday sales on websites like saksfifthavenue.com and nordstrom I decided to see what Forever 21 (the popular trendy teen store) had, and came across this dress, it looked very familiar. Its about 5 inches shorter, and well the quality...But I think regardless I might just stop in and check it out. Another steal?

Bad day:Bad shoes

These shoes are upsetting me. Shoes inspired by a fish? I mean A good animal print shoe is a must have in your wardrobe, even snake, but fish scales? When I saw these I had to wonder is there anything worse out there?
I found the answer to the question
1. The fish scale pumps
2.)Leather boots with crystals could be good, these however leave me speechless.
3.)What exactly do you call these?
4.)I am just plain against cowboy boots, and these are no exception.
5.)Converse heels make me upset
Do you happen to hate these shoes as much as I do or have you seen worse?

Get the look

Dresses not skirts are usually what I wear however, I am going to make a prediction, they are going to get big (as in your going to be seeing even more and more of them) or have they already been big, and me not wearing them has been unaware of that fact? Either way I am predicting your going to be seeing them all around.
Get on the "trend" and try out this look worn by Katie Holmes
White turtleneck
Katie's pocketed skirt
skirt for less
red heels
over- sized red bag
long necklace
Do you like this look?

Look for less

Photographs of this picture are everywhere and lets face it who doesn't want to look like Jessica Alba? Now you can have her look at any party for less. Start with this sequin cowl-neck tank dress
(if you want to stick with gray their is also this one.) Once you have your dress simply add a pair of patent pumps & clutch.
Now I am just wondering if dressing like Jessica will give me votes as the sexiest woman in the world? Why not give it a try.

gift ideas for everyone

Hopefully you have most if not all of your Christmas shopping done. However if you don't is it the fashionable ones on your list that are hard to shop for? For the woman on the go a large bag unlike one that she has is always an option. What about that hard to shop for guy that knows a little bit about fashion? This Burberry tee shirt and boxer set will have him covered, if he is the hoodie kind of guy, then give him a stylish one. Do you happen to have a teen on your list that looks like she has everything she could already need? Think again this Juicy Couture metallic tee will make her day. Buying for a young girl, I would bet that even you will be jealous of this Burberry trench. Now what about gifts for your friends? For the one who wants comfort and style, flats from Tory Burch will be a hard gift to beat, or what about a stylish watch or clutch so adorable you might end up keeping them for yourself. My favorite gift pick however just might be this ribbon necklace from Rachel Leigh. Tell me, what do you think of these gift picks?

unexpected dresses (well somewhat)

With all of the holiday parties right now you have to be prepared, what are you going to wear? Well you could of course do the normal and wear a cute red cocktail dress its festive without screaming it's Christmas time. Or you could step out of the normal and put on this hot-pink Versace dress, it might be a little extreme but you will definitely stand out and get a ton of complements. Theirs always the little black dress (i like this dress, the velvet kind of reminds me of when i was little.) Whats my pick? This blue one from Rebecca Taylor, the shape is not all that exciting but its not strapless and its affordable! (i have a fear of buying strapless dresses online) its blue kind of like winter thats festive enough right?
You can buy the dress pictured online at Saksfithavenue.com

Look for less

I love, love, Love this look worn by Heidi Klum, i am definitely picking up this outfit (but as always I have the option of getting this look for much less)

A blazer is a must have in every wardrobe and right now it happens to also be a very chic option for just about any outfit
Sequin top, perfect under a black blazer as in this look, or alone
Adding a scarf always seems practical (and chic)
A gorgeous pair of dark-wash skinnies prove that of course jeans can be stylish
Patent leather pumps, can i say love enough?

Look for less

I like this easy-to- put together (but very chic) look of Amber Tamblyn's. You however can create a similar look even on a very tight budget (considering these are items if you don't already own you should)
A classic gray blazer from Banana Republic.

If you don't have a classic shift dress in your closet already then now is your time to get one! This dress is on sale from $290 but you can get yours for just $145!

Clutches are a staple right now so pick up a classic shape in black.

A cuff bracelet is right on trend and affordable

Of course you already have a pair of black pointed toe heels but these ones are so cute and still affordable why not pick up another pair?

In this look you can go straight from the office, lose the jacket and go out for (a few) drinks.

How do I wear patent?

After featuring the super-shiny patent boots, i remembered a question i was asked by a friend which basically was-How do I work patent into my wardrobe? Our best advice here at tresChic would be.... for night go super-trendy, wear the boots with a flowy dress & black tights. If your wearing the boots during the day, go with a loose/ wrap cardigan and skinnies. If your looking to simply put a little patent in your wardrobe go with a small clutch or belt.

Fab find of the day

We all know how big patent is right now, and how strong its going to be for fall. For those that cant wait to splurge on a pair of boots I recommends this absolutely amazing pair from jean-michel cazabat, they come in a beautiful black patent leather. Although the $595 price tag is not terrible (considering how amazing they look) I have found a pair that you might just have to get, although they don't have the same super-shiney patent to die for look, they just might do, pick yourself up a pair at Victoria's Secret.

Fab find of the day!

If you didn't know yet we are a fan of purple for this fall, and we are always a fan of dresses, so our favorite new style? Purple dresses paired with black tights. We are giving you our five favorite purple dresses (on sale) that would look perfect with black tights and a sweater for fall. Number one is on the pricey side, but it has such a classic fit that it will be trendy now and stay classic later. Two can be described with just one word-fabulous, this dress is also quite pricey but will be your go-to party dress, a.k.a a great investment. The third dress is a "crazy cute" one that would look adorable alone in the summer (and like we said above) even cuter with tights, best of all its yours for only$69.90! Fourth dress-is more in a t-shirty style, but still would look cute at night paired with some opaque black tights or jeans, it would definitely be a fun and comfortable choice. Our last find was a inexpensive, sophisticated, chic and overall elegant choice.

Fashion for thought?

I have to admit, I have been pleasantly surprised. Elizabeth & James the line the Olsen Twins have created, is suprisingly-well chic, (yet still manges to be playful). I dont know about everyone else, but i was predicting a lot of hobo-(not so)chic outfits from this. However out of everything shown, their is nothing I dont like, the only downside to this collection? Everything is quite pricey. Well check it out online-here

Beauty Advice

In order to feel good about yourself and pull of any sort of high fashion, you need confidence and I dont know about the rest of the bloggers, but personally I would say its safe to say that we all at some point in our life struggle with our face "breaking out" and although the older I get the less of a problem it becomes, when my face is not clea, I just stress out, well about a week ago I came across Neutogena's oil free acne control/acne stress control "product", and need to tell you if you ever have break outs, give this product a try, only a couple days of use and my skin already is cleared up, under control, and all around so much more even. Buy this online here, or at your local walmart or drugstore.

Fab find of the day

Some of us here at tresChic have realized something, which is we are not only in the need of sweaters but also fabulous coats, so we would like to find some of our favorite splurges and steals with you. The first one here is a playful and cozy looking one from Juicy Couture, the three quarter sleeves mean we can wear it now, and bring it back out in the spring (although it is a little more like a dress, you can still throw it on with a pair of skinnies if necessary). If you like that one but aren't sure about paying the $300 try this similar one from free people. Looking for a warmer or more casual jacket? Try this simple yet warm looking one from Marc by Marc Jacobs. For even more warmth/a lower priced version go with this quilted one from Urban Outfitters.

which knits

The weather keeps getting colder here, so we are all searching (frantically) through our closets for fashionable, warm, knit-sweaters like this one shown from Burberry Porsum. Luckily since none of us can seem to find any in our own closets we have plenty of options to choose from-we cant seem to decide from this cheap but kind of chic one from forever21, this oh-so luxurious looking one from Alexander McQueen, or this middle priced fabulousness from Marc by Marc Jacobs. We can only imagine how many options we could wear these with, casual on the weekend with jeans, office-y with a skirt, or out at night with a simple shift-dress.

Gray Days

One of our favorite emerging trends? Its got to be all of that gray, like this runway look from Marni, the color is easy to wear, can be used as a neutral, and over all perfect for fall. Try this fall trend with this dress from Catherine Malandrino. If you have to add color? Add unexpected red or even yellow accessories

Fab find of the day

Your going out, for what? Anything. It could be some weekend errand running, out to lunch with a couple of friends, or even a little retail therapy, this is the dress you can picture yourself wearing. For a night look at a pair of tights preferably an opaque black, or try gray, if your running around add a pair of leggings (yes i said the word, give them a try) or if its warm enough wear a pair of boots or simple flats. The best part of this dress not only does it come in red, it is only &107 (and thats down from $215) so hurry up, and pick this one up before its to late! Pick this dress up online-here.
